Lyon has made a former manager of AC Milan Paulo FONSECA their new coach after only one month of leaving San Siro.

FONSECA, 51, has signed a two and a half -year contract with Ligue 1 and replaces Pierre Sage.

Lyon Sege dismissed earlier this week, but he reached the last 16 European League after drawing 1-1 with Ludogrets in their final match in the group stage on Thursday.

The club is ranked sixth in the French journey team after its management, only one victory in the last five league matches and was expelled from the French Cup after the defeat of the Fifth Division French Borguin Galio.

“Olympic Leonis is pleased to announce the appointment of Paulo Fonseca as a head coach for the professional team until June 30, 2027,” Leon said in a statement.

“This choice, which was unanimously taken by John Tinor and the entire sports administration, is part of the desire to give Olympic Leonis a strong ambition, both on the national and European scene.”

Fonseca was dismissed by Milan only six months after the job. He previously turned night in the first division, as he directed them to fourth in last season.

He won the Portuguese Super Cup with Porto in 2013, Portugal Cup with Braga in 2015-16, as well as the Ukrainian English Premier League with Shakhtar three times in a row.

His first match will be responsible for Lyon their trip to Marseille on Sunday.
