Mithali Raj has parted ways with Gujarat Titans as a mentor and advisor ahead of the WPL 2025 auction. After disappointing performances in the two seasons, the former Indian captain has joined a new venture as a mentor for the Andhra Cricket Association.
Mithali Raj has left Gujarat Titans
Indian Former cricketer and captain, Mithali Raj He stepped down from his position as mentor and advisor of Gujarat Titans ahead of the 2025 WPL Auction. This decision came after the franchise's poor performance in the last two seasons. Gujarat Titans finished both seasons at the bottom of the points table.
According to reports, Mithali Raj was signed for 3 years by Gujarat Titans, but she parted ways earlier. Mithali Raj has now joined Andhra Cricket Association as a mentor and advisor to women's cricket operations.
Coach changes at Gujarat Titans
Gujarat Titans bowling coach Nosheen Khudair along with Mithali Raj also chose not to renew her two-year contract. Nousheen has played a key role in developing young talent and now coaches the India U-19 women's national team.
However, other coaching members of the Gujarat Titans, such as head coach Michael Klinger and fielding coach Karl Hopkinson, will continue in their current roles.
WPL 2025 Auction
The WPL 2025 auction is scheduled to be held in Bengaluru on December 15, 2024. A total of 120 players have been shortlisted, including 91 Indian players and 29 overseas cricketers. Among them are 9 international players, while the overseas section has 8 players who have not played internationally.
With only 19 slots remaining across all franchises, including 5 slots for foreign players, teams will look to make smart purchases to strengthen their squads.
In November 2024, WPL teams announced the names of their retained players. A total of 71 players were retained including 21 foreign players.
