The Tottenham coach said: “Obviously he (Romero) was very emotional, he is a leader at the club and (due to the injury) he was not able to help us.”
“I think it was his way of trying to help us and the group to say we're going through a tough time but he believes in what we're doing.
“And the other part of him, maybe he went at it the wrong way. He's passionate about achieving success at the club and the way he expressed that probably wasn't the right way.
“A lot of what he said was good and some of what he said was not true and should not be done publicly. I have already spoken to Christian about it.
Without the likes of Romero, Micky van de Ven and Ben Davies due to injury, Postecoglou also admitted his side's current injury crisis is the worst of his managerial career.
“It's no secret, we are undermanned at team and position level,” Postecoglou said.
“It's something we're trying to address.”
“It's a great opportunity to overcome the odds and hopefully create something special.”

The former Celtic boss is relishing a return to Glasgow but knows the reception he will receive from Rangers fans is unlikely to be warm.
“When the draw was made, it was the most important for me because of my history here,” Postecoglou said.
“I have a good idea how difficult it will be for Rangers to play here in front of this crowd and atmosphere. But at the same time it's exciting.
“It's an important match for both clubs. A positive result gives you a good way to reach the knockout stages.
“I think everyone knows what kind of reception I'm going to get.”
