The Pentagon canceled the security details and clearance of General Mark Millie, a former American general who was criticizing US President Donald Trump.
Defense Minister Beit Higseth ordered this step as one of his first work in his post, and he asked the officials to investigate Gen Milley and review his military degree.
General Millie previously worked as the best American general during Trump's first term, but later criticized his former president, and quoted him, describing him as “fascist”.
Since his return to office, Trump has canceled the security protection of a handful of former officials who clashed with them, including former senior health officials Anthony Fushi.
Trump previously accused General Millie of betraying the phone calls he made with his Chinese counterpart in recent weeks of Trump's first presidency, including in the wake of riots in the American Capitol building by Trump supporters in 2021.
According to General Millie, one of the calls used to reassure China that the United States will not make a nuclear strike. On social media, the president described these calls as “a terrible act that in the times that passed, the punishment would be death!”
However, General Millie witnessed that calls were coordinated with other defense secretaries.
In the book “Bob Woodward”, which was published last year, General Mili quoted Trump as “fascist to light” and “the most dangerous person in this country.”
In 2023, upon delivering his final speech as head of the joint chiefs of staff, General Milli said that the army had not been divided into a “dictator who wished.” The comment that many saw as a reference to Trump, the man who nominated him for this position in the first place.
Before Trump returned to the White House last week, the outgoing president, General Millie – and a handful of others, including Foci – released a protective pardon in the event that they faced revenge on Trump.
Biden's statement said that the pardon “should not be mistaken as a recognition” that any of those who cover “participate in any violations.”
General Millie Biden thanked this step and said that he does not want to spend the rest of his life, “fighting those who may be unjust to revenge for the perceived losses.”
“I don't want to put my family, friends and those who served them through distraction, expenses and anxiety,” he said.
The news that General Millie was stripped of his security details and security clearance in a statement of the American BBC partner, CBS News.
The statement said that the Office of the Ministry of Defense of the Inspector General was informed of “an investigation into the facts and circumstances surrounding General Millie's behavior so that the Secretary can determine whether it is appropriate to reopen the decision to review the military row.”
The new Trump administration also canceled the security protection of former Foreign Minister Mike Bombo, former national security advisor John Bolton and his former envoy Brian Hook.
In the hours that followed the opening of Trump II, Trump officials also removed a picture of the Pentagon, a picture depicting General Miley as head of the joint chiefs of staff.
