Friedrixen did not directly mention Trump's threat in the comments at a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Schools, but she said, “We are facing more unconfirmed fact, a fact that calls for a unified Europe more cooperation.”
She referred to Russian activities in Ukraine and beyond and said, “It is up to Europe to determine the future of our continent, and I think we must take more responsibility for our security.”
In its announcement of the Arctic and North Atlantic region, the Danish Ministry of Defense said that the parties agreed to negotiate a second agreement in the first half of this year, focused on promoting deterrence and defense.
“We must face the fact that there are serious challenges regarding security and defense in the Arctic and North Atlantic,” said Defense Secretary Truez Lundeson. “For this reason, we must enhance our presence in the region.”
His ministry said that making sure that investments provide support for local jobs and companies in Greenland and the Faro Islands will be a “pivotal point”.

The Greenland government insisted that the lands are not for sale but are open to cooperation. The Ministry of Defense statement did not mention Trump's ambitions.
