Governor of Florida Ron DeSantis State employees will receive three additional vacation days this month, he announced.
“In addition to Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, our state workers will have three additional days off — December 23, 24 and 31 — to spend more time with their families and loved ones this holiday season,” the governor announced in a post on his website. X.
State offices will be closed for those five days, according to a news release from the governor's office.
“Florida is in great shape, and we want to reward our state employees,” DeSantis said, according to the news release. “After a full year — including three costly hurricanes — we hope these additional vacation days will allow state employees to spend more time with their families and loved ones this holiday season.”

The website also notes that “full-time employees are entitled to one personal leave per year.”
Last year, DeSantis announced that state offices would be closed on Nov. 22, Dec. 26, Dec. 29 and Jan. 2, in addition to regular closures. During holidaysaccording to a November 2023 press release.
“Our state employees have worked tirelessly throughout the year to help and assist Florida families,” DeSantis said, according to the statement. “Over the past few months, they have faithfully responded to Hurricane Idalia and Operation Israel Rescue in Florida. Closing state offices these additional days will provide state employees some much-deserved time with their families and loved ones while enjoying the holiday season.”
