Manchester United is fourth in the European League standings with only one match in the league, after beating Rangers 2-1 at Old Trafford Thursday evening.
Rangers seemed to snatch a late point to strengthen their hopes of reaching the exclusionary roles when Cyril Desers eliminated an early goal scored by former United goalkeeper Jacques Butland. But Bruno Fernandez scored a later goal of the “Captain's goal” in the 92nd minute to win.
This was a stimulant that Robin Amorim strongly needs after the painful defeat on Sunday against Brighton and Hof Albion in the Premier League, but in reality it is a fourth consecutive victory in Europe.
The fate of United before the eighth round trip to the Roman FCSB is in their hands completely, hoping to stay in the first eight places and bypassing the two -round round directly to the round of 16. Rangers can be sure in one way or another as well, but it is likely to be the first eight behind them.
