WASHINGTON — Lawmakers declined to say how many races there were when confronted just days later President Donald Trump He declared that there were only two “immutable” sexes: male and female.

In the wake of Trump's order, Fox News Digital polled lawmakers on Capitol Hill about the number of races recognized, but most members of Congress declined to answer the question.

“I have one meeting to go to, that's all I'm worried about right now,” Rep. Sylvia Garcia, D-Texas, told Fox when asked about the gender count.

Another Democrat, Rep. Don Beyer, D-Virginia, told Fox that there are “two types” of genders but “people are often not sure what those are.”

Other lawmakers who did not say how many races there were include Rep. Maxwell Frost, Democrat of Florida, and Rep. Pete Steuber, Republican of Minnesota.

Trump takes aim In many of Biden's federal orders related to gender identity, such as disempowering all eligible Americans to serve their country with the uniformed system, which allowed transgender people to serve in the military.
