Andy Cruz (4-0, 2 KOs) says he hopes to make it happen “son,“Keyshawn Davis will be ringside to watch him fight Omar Salcedo (20-1, 14 KOs) in a 10-round WBC lightweight title eliminator in the co-feature on Saturday, January 25 at the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas, Chelsea Ballroom, in Las Vegas. Vegas: Cruz Salcedo will fight on the Diego Pacheco vs. Steven Nelson card live on DAZN.

Targeting Shakur

If Cruz wins this fight, he will be a mandatory WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson He could force a fight against him, perhaps in 2026, if he does not lose his belt before then. Shakur won't be in a rush to fight Andy because he's a better version of himself. Cruz is defensive like Stevenson, but with the strength and offensive skills, it will be too much for him.

Cruz turned professional two years ago in 2023 after leaving his native Cuba and now lives in Miami, Florida. He is trained by Derek 'Bozy' Ennis, who makes slight adjustments to his fighting style to make him more of a forward attacking fighter. He appears to be trying to retool him to be like his son, Jaron “Boots” Ennis.

Father's motive

“Aside from getting the win on Saturday, I want to make my son Keshawn proud. “I want him to feel proud of his dad if “He was at ringside.”

Andy says he wants to make Keyshawn proud of his father if he's at ringside to watch him fight Salcedo. Andy has coached Keshawn four times in the amateur division, with the last time they met in the 2020 Olympic finals.

It was embarrassing to watch, because the fight was so one-sided in Cruz's favor. After the fight, Davis appeared to be completely out of his senses, celebrating around the ring, standing on the ropes, waving his arms, and shouting. The crowd looked on in confusion, not knowing what to think.
