Celtic allowed two players to leave the club on loan during the January window, with Stephen Welsh joining Belgian side KV Mechelen and Odin Thiago Holm moving to Los Angeles FC.

Former Switzerland assistant coach Giorgio Contini is in charge of Young Boys, but the 51-year-old drew his first match in charge at the weekend against bottom side Winterthur. He is looking to steady the ship after a painful first half of the 2024/25 season for the Swiss side.

Contini is without several players for the trip to Glasgow, with Miguel Chihuahua, Said Janko and Christian Fassnacht missing. Fassinet Conte and Abdo Conte were also sidelined.

Young Boys expected lineup to face Celtic (4-2-3-1): Killer. Bloom, Zucro, Benito, Hajm; Ogrenik, Lakomi; Virginius, Monteiro, Colley; Eten.

Young Boys have been in disastrous form this season, sitting ninth in the 12-team Swiss Super League and last in the 36-club Champions League standings. They have been particularly poor in defense and Contini will fear the worst ahead of a trip to a tumultuous Celtic Park on Wednesday.

Celtic should have a fairly routine win over the Swiss side, with their superior quality likely to overpower their opponents. The Scottish side have form and confidence in their favor and should take a huge step towards qualifying for the Champions League knockout stages for the first time since 2012/13.

Prediction: Celtic 3-1 Young Boys
