Stargate SG-1

Stargate SG-1 It has maintained a loyal following since the series went off the air, and it's always a pleasure to see the cast reunite for different shows and movies. Such was the case with Amanda Tapping's SyFy series, havenabout “unnatural beings” who were part of human lore, myth and legend but needed protection from the world, when Michael Shanks, its longtime SG-1 co-star, appeared in the second season. The two shared the screen again, making sure to include some nods to their time together, and in the DVD commentary, Tapping happily never stops praising her old friend.

Reunion – Tapping Shanks

“Atonement”, Season 2, Episode 9, is another “Affair of the Week” episode. havenin which Shanks plays Jimmy, a seedy who is forced into a life of smuggling by dangerous criminals. Jimmy and Helen Magnus, Tapping's scientist who is older than she seems, are old friends, but in reference to Tapping's appearance on… Stargate SG-1Jimmy greets her with “I like hair”, because Amanda Carter had short blonde hair and Helen had long brown hair. The two admitted that it was a joke they managed to get into the episode, specifically as a nod to SG-1 fans.

Jimmy, as an abnormal, also has a strange stomach sac mutation, which makes him a talented smuggler, but also makes him resemble a stomach sac. Stargate SG-1 Jaffa. Although the Jaffa had Goald larvae in their bag, Jimmy tends to carry bombs in his bag. “Sanctuary” ends in the only way it could since one of the decrees in the writer's room had to be “Helen can never win,” after Jimmy sacrifices himself.

The perfect stargate joke for sanctuary

Gary Jones in haven

The reunion of Shanks and Carter wasn't their only crossover Stargate SG-1 and havenwhich also included Christopher Heyerdahl as part of the main cast as Join Druitt and “Big Guy” (it's never confirmed that he's Big Foot, but he is Big Foot). Heyerdahl played Balan, a man who remains imprisoned inside a dome before Samantha Carter, of course, cuts off his connection to the artificial intelligence manipulating him. Clearly someone thought the two had great chemistry, as the second time they worked together, playing the supernatural Exes provided some of the best parts of the first three seasons.

A more subtle joke but perfectly aimed The sanctuary Season 3 focused squarely on the biggest difference between Amanda Tapping's two characters: accents. In the season 3 episode, “The Bank Job”, Helena Magnus has to pull off a bank robbery, and in doing so the American accent changes, prompting the teller to comment, “I knew the British accent was fake!” The cashier is played by Gary Jones, known as Stargate SG-1 Norman Harriman, a great reference to how the British eavesdropping company used an American accent to play Carter.

Like almost every other pair Science fiction offers, Stargate SG-1 and haven There were a lot of recognizable faces crossed between both shows, partly as references, but also because both shows were filmed in Vancouver. That's why so many superstar performers have also appeared, and Heyerdahl, in particular, seems to have been in almost every series ever filmed in Canada. There's nothing better than having Dr. Jackson and Dr. Carter back on screen together, even if just for a few minutes; And if you can, track down the Sanctuary DVD commentaries, which are not only great because of the unique way the show was produced, but also because Amanda eavesdropping Enthusiasm for science fiction is contagious.

haven It flows on Pluto.
