Scottie Scheffler was named PGA Tour Player of the Year for the third straight season, easily beating out Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele.
Scheffler, ranked first in the world, who received 91 percent of the votes, is the first player to win the award in three consecutive years since Tiger Woods in 2005 to 2007.
Scheffler recorded seven PGA Tour titles on his way to winning the FedExCup and also won Olympic gold in Paris, although his win at The Masters was his only major success compared to Schauffele's two wins.
It completes a remarkable season for Schaeffler, who also became a father for the first time shortly after winning the Masters for the second time in three years, was captured before his second round at the PGA Championship in May and won Olympic gold in Paris.

Both Schauffele and Schaeffler have enjoyed consistent seasons, recording 15 and 16 top-10 finishes respectively through 2024 and not missing a cut, while McIlroy won twice on the PGA Tour last season.
The Player of the Year award was determined by member voting, with PGA Tour members who played in at least 15 events during the 2024 season eligible to vote.

Schaeffler sat atop the world rankings throughout 2024, with the world number one winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational for the second time in three years before becoming the first player in history to successfully defend his title at The Players.
A second win at The Masters was followed by another win in the Signature Event at the RBC Heritage a week later, with Scheffler continuing his winning run at The Memorial Tournament and the Travelers Championship.

A stunning final-round 62 saw Scheffler take gold for Team USA in Paris, while capping an impressive campaign – in which he also won the Byron Nelson Award for low-scoring average – by securing his first FedExCup trophy with four goals. Shot win over Collin Morikawa in Eastlake.
Schaeffler has ended up in the same conversation with Woods a lot lately — from his stats, he's the first to win seven times in a season since Woods in 2007, and the first to hold world No. 1 all year since Woods in 2009. .

“There's only one tiger,” Scheffler said. “I try to get the best out of me and that's all I'm really focused on.
“I'm not chasing records or chasing history or anything like that, I'm just trying day by day to keep getting a little bit better, just go out there and compete and have fun.”
