India U-19 Women's National Cricket Team player Vaishnavi Sharma wrote history in the U-19 Women's World Cup match against Malaysia U-19 Women's National Cricket Team. The match between the two teams was held on Tuesday (January 21) at Bumas Oval in Kuala Lumpur.

Vaishnavi produced a magical effort with the ball and helped her team overcome the opposition with a low total. She was all over Malaysia as she wreaked havoc and scored a hat-trick, becoming the first player from India in the history of the tournament to achieve the feat.

Vaishnavi, who made her debut for the team, made sure to light up the stage with the ball in her debut. She started her spell with the wickets of Noor Dania Siwhada and Nuriman Haidah, and after that, she did not look back as she removed Noor Ain Bint Raslan, Noor Esma Dania and Siti Nizwa to score a hat-trick.

Vaishnavi trapped Nur Ain Bint Ruslan and Nur Isma Dania at lbs before bowling the stumps of Siti Nizwa.

Vaishnavi Sharma went on to pick the strings and returned with figures of 4-1-5-5 against Malaysia. With her hat-trick, she joined South African player Madison Landsman on the list of bowlers with a hat-trick in the history of the U-19 Women's World Cup.

South Africa's Madison Landsman holds the record of being the first female bowler in the U19 Women's World Cup T20 to score a hat-trick. She achieved the feat in the group stage match against Scotland and finished with figures of 4/12 in 2023.

Along with Vaishnavi Sharma, Ayushi Shukla was also among the wickets. She picked figures of 3.3-1-8-3 and based on the incredible effort with the ball, the India U-19 Women's National Cricket Team bundled out the opposition for 31 runs in just 15 overs.

Chasing the target, all guns blazing came out. Opener Jongadi Trisha scored an unbeaten 27 off 12 balls while G Kamalini was not out at 4. With the win, the National Under-19 Women's Cricket Team moved to the top of the table in Group A with four wickets and a net run rate of +9.148. .

Talking about her performance, Vaishnavi Sharma said that it was the beginning of a dream for her. She also revealed that Radha Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja are her idols. Speaking after the match, she said:

“This has been a dream start for me to get a hat-trick and five wickets. My journey has had its ups and downs. I look up to Radha Yadav (India's premier left-arm spinner) and Ravindra Jadeja. I have envisioned how to achieve this,” he added. “Get a wicket here last night.”
