Chelsea will reportedly have to pay up to £65m to complete a transfer for Crystal Palace defender Mark Guehi next January.
The Blues have been linked with Guehi Recently after his impressive form at Selhurst Park, but it remains to be seen how realistic a deal is.
Palace certainly won't want to let Johi go without a fight, and it now looks like he could leave, but only for big money.
according to Football from the insideIt would take £65m to convince the Eagles to let the England international leave, which is certainly a large sum for Chelsea to pay for a player who was previously in their academy.
Palace have just lost a key defender in Trevo Chalupa as well, with Chelsea recalling him next January.
Marc Guehi's move to Chelsea won't be cheap
While discussing Guehi's situation with Football Insider, former Manchester United scout Mick Brown gave his insight on the player's future and potential valuation.
“I hear Chelsea want to make a move for him“Brown said.
He added: “I think it will cost probably upwards of £65m, just like in the summer.
“This price may go down at the end of the season due to his contract situation, but at this stage I don’t think they will lower his price.”
Chelsea already have Wesley Fofana, Levi Colwell, Tosin Adarabioyo, Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile as options in defence, so it is not clear how much they need to go out and spend big on a new centre-back.
However, Guehi is a fantastic talent and if CFC do not make a move for him, it is surely only a matter of time before he ends up in a top six contender.
