Investing.com – Japanese stocks rose after the close on Monday, as gains in the stock sector led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the index rose by 1.16%.
The best performers of the session were Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd (TYO:), which rose 8.23% or 336.00 points and reached 4,417.00 at closing. Meanwhile, Taihu Cement Company (TYO:) continued to rise by 4.24% or 156.00 points and closed at 3,833.00. Fanuc Company (TYO:) rose 3.98% or 179.00 points to price 4,672.00 at the end of the session.
As for the weakest performance at the end of today’s trading, Nintendo Co Ltd (TYO:) shares closed down 3.05%, or 280.00 points, and traded at 8,901.00 at the close. Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd (TYO:) fell by 2.67% or 195.00 points at 7,120.00. Dina Company Limited (TYO:) fell 1.65%, or 42.50 points, to 2,536.00.
The number of advancing shares outnumbered the declining shares on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2,713 shares, reaching 931 shares, and 234 shares closed unchanged.
The Nikkei 225 Index, which measures the implied volatility of options on the Nikkei 225, rose by 0.09% and closed at 22.62.
Crude oil futures for March delivery fell 0.09%, or 0.07, to close at $77.32 per barrel. Elsewhere in commodity trading, the price of Brent crude for March delivery fell 0.16%, or 0.13, to reach $80.66 per barrel, while gold futures for February rose 0.06%, or 1.69, to close at $2,750.39 per ounce.
USDJPY fell 0.01% to 156.25, while EUR/JPY rose 0.24% to 161.09.
US Dollar Index futures fell 0.26% to 108.92.
