Police in Wisconsin are investigating next A man set a congressman on fire District Office after the popular social media app TikTok was briefly shut down in the United States, according to authorities.

Fond du Lac Police Department A 19-year-old Menasha man admitted to setting fire to office space rented to U.S. Rep. Glenn Grothman, he said.

Just after 1 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 19, police said officers along with City of Fond du Lac Fire Rescue responded to Grothman's office about a possible structure fire.

Officers found the suspected arsonist near the mall shortly after the fire was extinguished.

The man then admitted to officers that he had started the fire “in response to recent conversations about banning TikTok,” police said.

Grothman voted in favor of the TikTok divestment or “ban” bill.

Grothman turned to X to respond to the alleged arson attack.

“No one was injured in the fire and the damage was contained,” he wrote. “Thank you to the FDL firefighters and police officers for their quick response.”

“We are relieved that no one was injured, and the office was empty at the time of the fire. Acts of violence, in any form, are not tolerated, and we remain committed to protecting the safety and well-being of our community.” Fond du Luc Police Chief Aaron Goldstein said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“I am grateful for the quick response of our officers to help extinguish the fire as well as locate the suspect in this arson.”

The suspect is being held at the Fond du Lac County Jail, and the arson charge is being referred to the Fond du Lac County District Attorney's Office, officials said.

Fox News Digital has reached out to TikTok for comment on the alleged arson attack.

The president-elect continued: “I will issue an executive order on Monday to extend the period of time before the ban imposed by law goes into effect, so that we can reach an agreement to protect our national security.” “The order will also confirm that there will be no liability for any company that helped prevent TikTok from going dark prior to my order.”

“Americans deserve to see our exciting inauguration on Monday, as well as other events and conversations,” Trump said.

His post on Sunday did not clarify when the extension would take effect or specify how long it would last.
