Arsenal praised the great success achieved in the signing of Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zobimendi in the summer.
The Spanish international is likely to join the Gunnersaccording to Charles Watts and others, and there also appears to be a sense that the player has been rejected by Manchester City for a move to the Emirates Stadium.
Former Manchester City financial advisor Stefan Borsson has provided his insight Zubimendi transport saga In an interview with Football from the insidepraising what appears to be a good signing for Mikel Arteta's side.
Although this deal has not yet been completed, Arsenal fans will be excited about what looks to be a fantastic addition to their squad for next season, giving them an ideal long-term alternative to Jorginho and Thomas Partey, who are both set to be sidelined. The contract is at the end of this campaign.
Martin Zobimendi's move to Arsenal hailed as 'fantastic signing'
“I think the player does not want to move in the middle of the season,” Burson said.
“Arsenal probably don't need him badly in the second half of this season.
“I think the actual deal itself seems a no-brainer for this fee for a player of his quality. He was pursued by Liverpool last summer and possibly by Manchester City this winter.
“But it seems he gave City a clear answer that he didn't want to leave, so they moved very quickly. We don't know for sure, but that would be my guess.
“But Arsenal have obviously done a deal, he wants to leave in the summer. It's a great deal for Arsenal at this price. It's low risk given the quality.
“I don’t think the reason for signing him in the summer is because of the PSR situation, I think it is simply a case of it suits all parties for him to move in the summer.”
