Heidi Montag is doing her best to “focus on gratitude” after a fire destroyed her family's Los Angeles home. “So I got their teddy bears. I randomly, from the tooth fairy, got a tooth that Gunner had left in my closet, so I grabbed it,” she explained. “I got some documents that we had – those pre-filled documents from years ago from Fires (ex). I grabbed two pairs of jeans and two shirts. I grabbed a pair of shoes – a random pair of sneakers.

In the couple's haste, they also had to leave several beloved items behind – items that have now been destroyed. Spencer explains that one of the items was a special Christmas gift that he convinced his wife to buy for herself.

“She didn't get anything for herself,” he said. we. “Then, right before Christmas, I got these Golden Goose shoes in Palisade Village. It was her big gift. I was like, 'Just get your Golden Goose.'” She didn't do it.

Heidi explained that she believed she would be able to “come back to them.”

“It hit me at the end of the packing that I might not come back,” she added. “I was like, ‘Oh my God, I need to go to the kids’ room and I need to catch their teddy bear.’ And I had a gunner, and he had a 104-degree fever — he had that for days — and I was so preoccupied with him… (I was) just obsessing over things.” I worry and wander aimlessly.
In addition to her new shoes, Heidi said she wished she had taken “pictures” that made it clear she could no longer get them back.

“I don't have pictures,” she said. “I have all these photo albums that I made for rSpencer before Instagram and TikTok and the iPhone came along. These photos (that) I'll never have again. All that sentimental stuff is just gone, you know?”

So far, the Palisades, Eaton and other smaller fires have burned 38,600 acres, according to NBC News. At least 27 people died and 12,000 buildings were destroyed. Many celebrities, including Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Paris Hilton and Miles TellerThey lost their homes in the fire.

For Heidi and Spencer, it's not so much the “things” they miss as their community.

“I miss our friends. I miss our daily life. I miss driving my son to school there. “I miss our whole world and I am so sad for all our friends,” she told us through tears. “I am so sad for our entire community. It is not only our loss, it is our city's loss in the literal sense of the word; A community of which we are all an active part.

She continued: “(It's) just the daily routine that you miss — waking up in your bed with the mirrors and the pillows and the smells of your house and your kids. It's very difficult.”
