Now that power is about to be He was transported safelyAll Americans can expect to hear from a president who actually speaks for himself. Definitely a new concept.
The public rarely heard about it President Joe Biden Without the help of a teleprompter. Press conferences have become foreign concepts. Here's the discrepancy: In Donald Trump's final year in office, he held 35 solo press conferences. In Biden's final year, he had no single lobbyist. His therapists wouldn't even let him do it on his way out the door.
So, with the absent president isolated from the public, or spending another long weekend in Delaware, he became the face of the administration Karen Jean-Pierre In the last two and a half years after taking office, the devout Jen Psaki has escaped into the very friendly confines of MSNBC.
Let's be fair: defending Biden, who exits the Oval Office b Approval rate 36%an almost impossible task, especially after it seemed that his brain had turned into apple juice. But at least Psaki could lie, or think, when the questions got tough from Fox News' Peter Doocy and Jackie Heinrich. KJP had no such ability, leading to these questionable moments in the outgoing White House press secretary's top five most disturbing moments.
5. “Isn't it? Isn't it?”
After Biden argued that the way to reduce inflation was to make corporations pay their fair share in taxes, Ducey asked: “How does raising corporate taxes lower the cost of gas, the cost of a used car, the cost of food, for ordinary Americans?”
What followed was like listening to a college sophomore compiling a stream of consciousness in order to achieve a mandatory word count for an oral book report. And here the answer was literally, according to the official White House text.
“So, I guess we're rooting for those who have done very well – right?” Jean-Pierre began. “Especially those who care about climate change, to support a fairer tax — a tax code that doesn't change — that doesn't charge factory workers, cops, and builders a higher percentage of their earnings; that's what the most fortunate people in our society are doing. The nation — and not letting it — stand in the way of cutting Energy costs and combating this existential problem, if you think about that as an example, and supporting basic collective bargaining rights as well, right, it's – you know, it's not – if – without a fairer tax code, which is what I'm talking about, all – like workers “Manufacturing, the cops – you know, it's not fair that they have to pay higher taxes than people who – who – who don't pay taxes at all or barely pay taxes.”
No matter how many times you injected “Isn't it?” In her Kamala-like set of words, we still cannot find an answer to the question of how raising corporate taxes reduces inflation.
4. Election denier
Democrats have warned us that denying election results represents a chilling threat to democracy itself. So it was strange to see the PKK chosen to be White House press secretary, since she herself denies the election.
“Stolen election… welcome to Trump’s invisible world,” she wrote on Twitter after the 2016 election.
“Trump always finds a way to take it to his lowest point. Not only is he a senile grump, but he's also a deplorable illegitimate president,” were her sentiments in 2017.
“Reminder: Brian Kemp stole the gubernatorial election from Georgians and Stacey Abrams,” she said of Abrams’ gubernatorial loss to Republican Brian Kemp in 2018.
This is chilling stuff in the Arctic. When Doocy noted KJP's objections to Donald Trump's complaints about the 2020 election and noted these tweets, she became the dictionary definition of “defensive.”
“Let's be really clear,” Jean-Pierre replied. “That comparison you made is ridiculous.” “I was talking specifically at the time about what was happening with voting rights, and what was threatening voting rights.”
Let's be clear: No, you're not, Karen.
3. “I can solve this problem.”
After Trump's victory on November 5, Heinrich asked Jean-Pierre a powerful question about pre-election fearmongering versus post-election assurances:
“This administration has sent a message to millions of Americans that when they wake up the day after the election, if Trump wins and they are stripped of their rights, that democracy will collapse. 'We'll be fine,'” the president said today. So how do you square that?” Heinrich asked the press secretary.
“I can solve this problem,” Jean-Pierre said. “I'm going to settle this in a way that I hope makes sense, because I've been answering this question a few times (author's note: you haven't answered the question a few times by this point).
She continued: “The American people have made the decision.” “There were elections two nights ago. There were free and fair elections, and we respect the electoral process. We respect it. The Americans have spoken.”
He asked, “What is the message addressed to frightened people based on the content of (Trump's) message?” Heinrich asked.
“Well, now you're just distorting everything, and it's really unfair,” a confused KJP member responded. “Jackie, it's unfair because I was standing here trying to be very respectful of what happened the last two nights, two nights ago. To be respectful. I was standing here to say we respect the decision that the American people made.”
Instead of responding to Biden's statements, KJP spoke in circles.
2. “Loud Questions”
When asked in 2023 whether people around Biden were trying to “protect” the aging president from the press by not letting him answer direct questions, Jean-Pierre began to pivot with ridiculous speed.
“The President stood in front of all of you several times, and took the questions himself, because he wanted to see what you had in mind, he wanted to see what questions you were all going to ask him, he wanted to answer them directly,” before finally adding: “I will say this: it is an order.” It is also unprecedented for a president to receive as many loud questions as this president, and he has done so.”
Oh, please. Whenever reporters were invited into Biden's Oval Office, they were shouted out of the room by the president's handlers in what is usually question-and-answer time. The “honest questions” are the ones that Biden never answered as he walked away.
1. “No, no, no, no, no, you can't.”
When Ducey challenged KJP in September 2023, over her outlandish claim that the border was under control, she tried to blame Republicans.
“What do you call the situation here at the White House when 10,000 people cross the border illegally in one day?” Ducey asked.
“So what do you call it, Peter, when the Republican Party puts up… wait, no, no, no, no, no, you can't,” Jean-Pierre responded as Ducey tried to steer the press secretary back to reality.
“You're answering my question with a question,” Ducey noted.
“Okay, we'll move on,” Jean-Pierre said, without any explanation as to why.
After the briefing, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) criticized the White House for its indifference.

“Joe Biden doesn't seem to care. Karine Jean-Pierre doesn't seem to care. And I know (Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas) doesn't care because we asked him a lot of questions, we asked him for information and data.” Jordan said he refuses to reach us.
He added: “So, that's the state of this administration. And that's why I honestly think that Joe Biden's approval ratings are so low, because they see the pathetic job that this administration has done.”
Carolyn Leavitt will be the next White House press secretary. At 27 years old, she will be the youngest ever to hold the position. Leavitt has promised to allow more access to non-traditional reporters, bloggers and potentially even podcasters in an effort to end the White House Correspondents' Association's monopoly on the James S. Brady briefing room.

“This administration values transparency and diversity in the media,” Leavitt declared. “We are committed to ensuring that the press room reflects the modern landscape of journalism.”
This is a welcome change. As for accessibility, Trump has already held several press conferences as president-elect. The last thing he needs is for his staff to hide him from the press.
