WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Former US Vice President Mike Pence plans to attend the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump on Monday. New York Times (NYSE:) reported on Friday, citing two people familiar with the planning.
Representatives for Pence and Trump did not immediately provide comment.
Pence, Vice President during Trump's first administration, competed against the former president to be the Republican Party's presidential nominee in last year's elections.
Pence, who did not support his former president before the 2024 elections, had a tense relationship with Trump since the end of his first term, which extended from 2017 until 2021.
Pence had rejected Trump's request to overturn his defeat in the 2020 elections on January 6, 2021.
