“The dream is always to play for the country” – Karun Nair
Karun Nair spoke about his dream of playing international cricket for India and wants to focus on all innings. He wants to do everything he can and doesn't want to think too much about the future.
“The dream is always to play for the country. So, yes, the dream is still alive. That's why we play this game, to play for your country. So, the one and only goal was to play for the country.” The agency quoted Karon as saying.
“I think this is my third comeback (laughs). And I have to keep doing what I'm doing at the moment. Keep scoring goals whenever I can in every game I play. That's the most I can do. Everything else is not under my control,” he added.
“But until it (selection) happens, it is just a dream. It has not come true yet. But again, as I said, I would like to focus on one innings at a time,” the Vidarbha batsman revealed.
“I wouldn't do anything differently” – Karun Nair
Karun Nair was also asked about the things he has changed to improve his performance. He replied that only hard work got him to this position and he would not have done anything differently. He always had that belief in him and wanted to be in a positive frame of mind.
“I wouldn't do anything differently. There's no secret. I think it's just years of hard work and perseverance and, you know, it all coming together. And maybe you could say, taking every day as a new day and making sure I respect all the roles that I play,” Caron said. “I play it.”
When he was in bad shape, he started from scratch and worked hard again. He also talked about having a positive thought process even when he was not in good shape with the bat.
“I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared. I think anyone could have those feelings. But I never thought my career would end. I just thought, 'Where is it going? What do I do? How? Did this happen?' Caron noted.
“It takes time to come out of that phase and understand what's going on and then what you're supposed to do. So, I told myself I need to start from scratch again. I give myself a few years and see and clarify 'where it's going to go and then I can decide what I'm going to do' “That was my thought process.”
