Erling Haaland has put the idea of a move to La Liga or elsewhere after signing a new 9.5-year contract with Manchester City.

The reporter described the Norwegian's exciting new contract as one of the most lucrative deals in the history of the sport and any exit clauses that existed in his previous contract were removed.

The new deal means the striker will be approaching his 35th birthday by the time the deal expires, so Haaland will have spent the vast majority of his career, and his peak years, at the Etihad Stadium.

Given that there are potential penalties for the club if the Premier League finds them guilty of financial irregularities, it would be a major coup for City to be able to restrict the player for an extended period.

Money obviously played a part in getting him to put pen to paper, but it also shows incredible commitment from the player himself, knowing that the possibility of City being relegated is there.
Of course, with best-in-class legal representation, there is no guarantee that the Premier League champions will be convicted of any charges, and this likely played a part in Haaland's thinking when making such a mind-boggling decision.
