The season will begin on February 14 with a high-stakes showdown between the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Giants (GG). The opening match will be played at the newly built BCA Stadium in Vadodara, kicking off a season promising to set new standards for women's cricket.
Place distribution for WPL 2025 matches
For the first time in the history of the WPL, the tournament will be played across four venues – Vadodara, Bengaluru, Lucknow and Mumbai – marking a major expansion from previous editions. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) It revealed the long-awaited schedule on January 16, detailing a total of 22 matches in this third edition.
The 2025 FA Women's Super League will be played at four distinct venues, each contributing to the tournament's vibrant schedule. The state-of-the-art Kutambi Stadium in Vadodara will serve as the inaugural venue, hosting the first six matches, including the opening match between Gujarat Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru on February 14. Bengaluru's iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium will take center stage next. , and hosting the next eight matches, which is the most among the four selected stadiums.
This stretch will include crucial matches involving defending champions RCB, promising high-energy contests at one of India's most famous cricket venues. Lucknow, which made its debut as a Premier League venue, has been allotted four group stage matches. This marks a major milestone in the tournament's history, bringing first-class women's cricket to the city for the first time. Finally, Mumbai will play a pivotal role in the final stages of the tournament. The city will host two league matches and two knockout matches of the prestigious Cricket Club of India (CCI).
The playoff format remains unchanged from the previous season. The team that is at the top of the league standings will guarantee direct entry into the final. Meanwhile, the second and third placed teams will face off in the Eliminator on March 13, vying for a place in the Grand Final scheduled for March 15. This structure ensures that each match has a weight, making the league stage highly competitive.
Following the successful single-header format, the 2025 WPL will see all 22 matches played as standalone events. This approach ensures uninterrupted focus on each match, increasing fan engagement in both stadiums and streaming platforms.
