The DOGE Congressional Caucus's plans to cut government waste shift into focus after the group's second closed meeting on Wednesday.
Caucus leaders are dividing lawmakers into eight working groups focused on different sectors to reduce waste. These will focus on retirement, social and family safety nets, additional emergency funding, energy permitting, homeland security, defense and veterans, workforce, and government operations, according to a document seen by Fox News Digital.
Co-chairs Aaron Bean, Republican of Florida, and Pete Sessions, Republican of Texas, challenged lawmakers in the chamber to introduce at least one government efficiency bill in the 119th Congress.

Both told Fox News Digital that this was just one of the coordinated efforts the caucus is planning as it seeks to be the legislative backstop for the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) led by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy.
“He was “We will be aiming for a day when we strike down pieces of legislation, which is a day when we will speak to the American people,” Sessions told Fox News Digital.
Ben explained the idea and called it “DOGE days.”
“We'll have a day where hopefully we can put 20 or 30 bills in place, and all the DOGE members will come forward and, boom, we're working on it,” Bean said. “We will have great teamwork, synergy and great momentum.”
They asked attendees to fill out a questionnaire, a copy of which was obtained by Fox News Digital, to determine which action groups they would like to be part of.

During the closed meeting, lawmakers took turns discussing their own ideas for cutting government waste as well.
Representative Jay Obernault, Republican of California, called for a constitutional amendment requiring Congress to balance the federal budget.
Rep. Jeff Van Drew, Republican of New Jersey, has proposed cutting child tax credit eligibility for illegal immigrants.
“Right now, we're not careful enough… that illegal aliens get the child tax credit, the child care tax credit. That's ridiculous. You know, that's my point is that these are the low-hanging fruit, the low-hanging fruit.” ” Van Drew told Fox News Digital when asked about his meeting comments.
Sen. Joni Ernst, Republican of Iowa, who leads Effortlessly DOGE on The Senate side, which also attended Wednesday's House meeting, urged lawmakers there to work with their Senate counterparts on bicameral bills.
Lawmakers were enthusiastic about the goals set By Misk and Ramaswamy's new painting. The group, commissioned by President-elect Trump, is an advisory committee aimed at recommending where the executive branch can cut government waste.
The DOGE rally is an attempt to make Trump Cost reduction initiatives Permanent through legislation.

The group opened an email tip line that Bean and Sessions said has already received more than 15,000 emails.
Ben said he was surprised but happy with the enthusiasm.
