A California man whose house was the only one on his block Survived the Eaton fire He captured a stunning video showing the devastation in his neighbourhood, saying: “God knew what he had to do to protect me.”
Enrique Balcázar recorded the footage on January 9 when he returned to see what was left of it His community is in Altadena.
“This is on the other side of the street, the house on the corner and the two houses in front of it, and the entire street on the right side of me was destroyed,” he said. “From what I could see, every house on my block burned down, except for mine.”
Balcazar added: “Why do I deserve this? I don't know. I don't think I deserve this. But God give everyone plenty of insurance to rebuild. God knew what He had to do to protect me.” Get emotional.

The video, taken by Balcazar, shows him walking around his property to inspect any damage. As he pans the camera, his neighborhood appears to be in ruins, while crows can be heard eerily chirping in the background.
“Everyone behind me, how is this? How can this be true? Everyone behind me burned,” Balcázar continues, pointing out the extent of the wood he used to build an extension to his house. Devoured by forest fires.
He said: “Even the wood that we were building as an extension of the house, but my house is intact. But even the wood that I was burning, how would that happen if it were not for God? The neighbors are gone.”

At one point in the video, Balcazar reveals that part of his garage roof was still on fire.
“The garage is still standing. I don't understand how this is happening. This is God,” he said.
“Okay, we'll go ahead and put some water on it now, make sure you put it out so it doesn't catch fire again,” Blackazar added before the video ended.
