Multiple reports have revealed that Trevo Chalupa has been recalled from his loan spell at Crystal Palace by parent club Chelsea.

Chalupa moved to Selhurst Park last summer on a deal until the end of the season, although Chelsea retain the option to cut things short in January if they wish.

The athlete Chelsea have reportedly decided to activate the clause that would bring Chalupa back to Stamford Bridge, with manager Enzo Maresca desperate for reinforcements following injuries to Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashelli.

Maresca was previously questioned about the possibility of a Chalupa call-up, but was coy in his answers and stated that he did not want to disrespect Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner by talking about one of his players.

The Italian said: “I already said in the last press conference, he is a Palace player and I think that is disrespectful. The reason I think all managers always say the same thing is because he is a Palace player.” “If you start talking about Trev, it's disrespectful to (Oliver) Glasner, if Oliver starts talking about our players, that's probably not good for me.

The 25-year-old is expected to play an important role for Chelsea between now and the end of the season, likely lining up alongside the ever-present Levi Colwell at the heart of Chelsea's defence. Academy graduate Josh Acheampong was in the starting line-up for Tuesday's match 2-2 draw with Bournemouth But he only played five matches at senior level.
