President Biden On Tuesday, he signed proclamations to create Chuckwalla National Monument and Sattula Highlands National Monument, which will protect hundreds of thousands of acres of land in California, during his final week in office.

In his second week as president, he said he had signed an executive order “setting the first-ever conservation goal to protect 30% of all our lands and waters everywhere in America by 2030… I call this national campaign America the Beautiful… and over the course of the four years “For years, we have achieved our accomplishments… putting America on track to achieve this bold goal, restoring it, creating new national monuments, and preserving hundreds of millions of acres of land and waters across America, from New England to Minnesota and Texas to… Colorado, Arizona, Alaska.”

“Over the past four years, I am proud to have maintained my commitment to protecting more lands and waters than any president in American history,” he added.

Chuckwalla National Monument will protect more than 600,000 acres of public lands in the California desert near Joshua Tree National Park and the Colorado River, according to the National Parks Conservation Association.

Satitla Highlands National Monument will protect more than 224,000 acres of land in Northern California in the Modoc, Shasta Trinity and Klamath National Forests and “provide protection for tribal ancestral homelands, historical and scientific treasures, rare plants and animals, and headwaters.” “A vital source of water,” according to the U.S. Forest Service.
