Luke McEwan scored Celtic's first goal with a header in the match against his former club Dundee

Celtic took the lead in the fifth minute after Greg Taylor marked his 200th Celtic appearance by providing a perfect cross for McCowan to head into the far corner. The midfielder's celebrations were muted.

Dundee had previously had a chance when Donnelly's throw-in rebounded into Celtic's six-yard box. Kasper Schmeichel saved Simon Murray's glancing header on his own line.

However, Donnelly's next attempt at a long throw failed to reach the box and led to a Celtic chance at the break. Adam Idah lacked conviction as he ran onto Kyogo Furuhashi's tempting low cross and the ball went out of the danger zone.

Celtic looked in control and were creating chances. Paulo Bernardo headed over the crossbar and forced a diving save from Trevor Carson.

Oluwaseun Adewumi finished off a devastating Dundee counterattack that started with a Celtic corner.

The hosts suddenly equalized after a quick break following a Celtic corner kick.

Murray raced forward from the edge of the box and Finlay Robertson set up Adewumi to run at Alastair Johnstone. The on-loan Burnley player curled a shot into the bottom corner as he ran into the penalty area.

Celtic went back in front in the 53rd minute when Young scored only his second goal in 49 appearances for the club.

The goal came from a low cross from Furuhashi, who was again playing in a position towards the right wing. The ball flew out of Carson's hands when he blocked Idah from getting there and Young showed his desire to win the loose ball and head home.

Hyun-Jun Young scored his second goal for Celtic with a header to give them the lead again against Dundee

Dundee equalized again a minute later. Murray beat Auston Trusty and sent Josh Mulligan running into the box. Carter Vickers slid in to block a low cross from the wing-back but turned it inside Schmeichel's near post.

The hosts took advantage of the second equalizer and created a series of chances. Adewumi and Robertson went close from distance, and Ethan Ingram headed wide from Mulligan's cross before Cesar Garza fired over the bar from a half-chance.

Dundee responded to Celtic's second goal quickly after Cameron Carter-Vickers collided with a Dundee cross.

In a sign of the way the game was going, Brendan Rodgers used all five of his subs before Tony Docherty made his first.

Docherty's side were leading before the change after Donnelly rose well at the back post to head Robertson's corner into the top corner.

Dundee looked like they would see the game over until Don Robertson pointed to a penalty kick and Ingles sent Carson the wrong way three minutes into extra time.

Dundee boss Tony Docherty was delighted with his side's performance as they came minutes away from ending their 24-year winless streak against Celtic.

Dundee president Tony Docherty He said Sky Sports:

“I'm really disappointed because I thought we did enough to finish the game off, but I need to balance that with praise for the character and character of the team.

“When Celtic bring the quality they bring, and I asked Lyall Cameron to come in when he was sick and not ready to play. Then he brought on Tiffoni, the striker, to play the midfield role.

“I'm so proud of how much these boys have given me, and given to their football club. It was more of a championship and a never-say-die attitude.”

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers felt his team were passive and lacked aggression

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers He said Sky Sports:

“We lacked aggression on the ball, duels and passing. It was sideways or backhanded, and our positioning wasn't aggressive enough.

“We fought until the end and got the point, but we let the game slip away as we dominated for 40 minutes.

“I give Dundee credit for holding their own again, but when I look at us, we should be much better than that.”

Auston singled out Trusty for criticism regarding Dundee's third goal, adding: “You're a centre-half, you've got to be strong, you've got to be aggressive and you've got to win with your head.”

Chris Boyd believes Celtic's left side could be a problem for them in the Champions League after a poor defensive performance against Dundee.

Chris Boyd:

“Celtic are far ahead in the league and sometimes complacency can set in, but Brendan Rodgers will know they need to be involved in the next two Champions League games.

“These are huge games for the football club, and they need to be involved.

“That left side of the defense is a problem for them. You look at Trusty (before Dundee's third goal), they stood on his toe and he's rolling over. You've got to be a centre-back, you've got the standing.”

“Celtic have spent a lot of money to bring in Trusty, Ingles and Idah. Idah is back tonight, wow, I don't know what's going on with him.

He added: “I understand that when you are a striker and you do not score goals, you might overthink things, but he is not the same player who came here last season.”

James McFadden:

“Brendan Rodgers talks about being passive and not aggressive enough with the ball, but he's actually talking about Simon Murray on Trusty for the second goal and Trusty on Donnelly for the third.

“Rodgers brings it up with everyone but lets Trusty know this is unacceptable.”

Neil Lennon:

“It cost them goals.

“He sets really high standards that the team maintains for very long periods of time, but when they fall behind the standards, they need to be told about it.”
