They have also made direct contact with Tzimas' camp to discuss a move to Anfield, and Plettenberg describes the 19-year-old as “one of Greece's brightest attacking talents” in light of his impressive form on loan in Germany this season.

Nuremberg are set to activate a buyout option worth €18m (£15m) on the youngster's contract, and if Slot's side want to win the race to sign the young star, they are expected to need to pay €25m (£21m) plus To add -ons.

Tzimas is showing promising signs in Germany
