Tyson Fury has announced Retirement From boxing…for about the 47th time. This time, he's coming off back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk. Yes, the same Fury who once said he would fight anyone, anywhere, anytime has decided to call it quits. once again. maybe.
Usyk bested the 36-year-old heavyweight champion in their rematch in December, but no one expected him to call it quits on his career just yet. After all, he had retired before. And not retired. Then he retired again. Predicting Fury's next move is like guessing the weather in Manchester – good luck.
Joshua vs. Fury? Not happening (apparently)
Just last week, Anthony Joshua stirred things up by saying a fight with Fury “had to happen” this year. Saudi boxing star Turki Al Sheikh even hinted at making this British film a reality. Wembley Stadium was allegedly booked out, fans were in an uproar, and boxing Twitter was in complete meltdown mode.
But no. Fury took to social media with one of his signature cryptic messages:
“Hey everyone, I'll keep this short and sweet. I'd like to announce my retirement from boxing. It was a blast, I loved every minute of it. I'll end with this – Dick Turpin wore a mask. God bless everyone, see you on the other side.”
Dick Turpin? mask? Is this a retirement speech or an audition for a historical drama?

A retirement that never sticks
Let's be honest, Fury retiring has the same weight as a featherweight boxer. Do you remember 2022? After his victory over Dillian Whyte, he declared himself finished, returning later that year to fight Dereck Chisora. He even gave a dramatic speech at the time:
“Every good dog has its day. As the great Roman general said, there will always be someone else to fight. When is enough enough, enough?”
Obviously, “enough” lasts until the next big payday. Is this the end of Tyson Fury's career? maybe. But if history has taught us anything, it's that we'll see him back in the ring, perhaps with a new set of excuses and another mysterious Instagram post.
