Pakistan national cricket team fast bowler Shaheen Afridi came up with a vague response after he was asked about his leave from the Test series against South Africa and West Indies. He laughed when he heard the word “rest” and skillfully dug into the PCB.
Pakistan national cricket team fast bowler Shaheen Afridi has been completely sidelined by the PCB from the Test setup. The premier fast bowler played the first Test of the series against the England national cricket team in August last year and was left out of the squad for the final two matches along with Babar Azam, Naseem Shah and Sarfraz Ahmed.
Shaheen Afridi was not part of the South Africa Tests, and the PCB did not name him in the squad for the West Indies series
While Babar Azam and Naseem Shah returned to the team for the South Africa Test series, Afridi was absent, and the Pakistan Cricket Board stated that the player has been rested due to workload management. His name was not mentioned in the West Indies series either.
During the post-PSL draft press conference, reporter Shaheen Afridi asked: “Shaheen, you were rested during the South Africa Test series, and you are not part of the West Indies series as well.”
“You got to rest?” – Shaheen Afridi's enigmatic response to relief
He responded to that and laughed and said: “You made me feel comfortable?” (Laughter) That's a good question.

“I think if we remember the positive things more, it will be beneficial for our team.” – Shaheen Afridi
Shaheen Afridi spoke about Lahore Qalandars' lineup for the upcoming edition of PSL. Speaking about new president Darren Gough, he said that his presence will fit into the team environment and they can learn from him as well.
Afridi also spoke about the importance of having local players in the team. He was aware that the performance of local players had a huge impact on the results and stressed that they needed to look at the positive things. He added:
“Look, thank God, we have won two seasons. If you look at it, the local players in the PDB team have performed very well. When the local players perform well, the team wins. There are ups and downs. You lose and you win the game.
“I think if we remember the positive things more, it will be good for our team. Since Darren Gough has come in, hopefully, as a bowler, we will also learn more things. Samin bhai can tell us a lot about him. So, I feel this combination is very good.”
Shaheen Afridi will be keen to create the atmosphere for Lahore Qalandars in the next edition of the league. The speedster had a tough season last year as a player and captain. BSL 2025 It is scheduled to be played between April 8 and May 19.
