Reid later issued an apology for his comments.

“With regard to social media and my comments about the university, staff and other institutions, I would like to sincerely apologize to all UBC employees, students and alumni for my lack of professionalism,” Reid wrote in a statement on X, formerly known as. twitter. “My language and accent were unacceptable as a father, coach and leader.”

“My passion for improving our culture and growing our organization has gotten the best of me and I have fallen victim while taking on adversaries on social media as well. I am very aware of the hard working people at our school who are also struggling to succeed. Things are better and more financially sound.”
