First on Fox: President-elect Donald Trump Republican Party allies in the House of Representatives are paving the way for him to fulfill his pledge to acquire Greenland.
Tennessee Republican Rep. Andy Ogles is leading a bill that would allow Trump to enter into negotiations with Denmark over the purchase of Greenland, a region located in North America but with long-standing cultural and geopolitical ties to Europe.
The bill is titled the “Make Greenland Great Again Act,” according to a copy of its text obtained by Fox News Digital.
“Joe Biden has damaged our reputation over the past four years, and before President Trump takes office, he is telling the world that America First is back. America's economic and security interests will no longer take a backseat, and House Republicans are prepared to take a seat,” Ogles told Fox News Digital. Help President Trump achieve what the American people want.”

This would allow the current president to enter into talks with Denmark on the afternoon of January 20, when Trump is scheduled to be sworn in.
The legislation stated: “No later than 5 calendar days after reaching an agreement with the Kingdom of Denmark regarding the United States’ acquisition of Greenland, the President shall transmit the agreement to the appropriate congressional committees, including all relevant articles and appendices.” .
The Constitution grants Congress fiscal power, meaning the executive branch cannot make any purchases for the federal government without first having funds appropriated by the House and approved by the Senate.
Ogles' bill has the support of 10 of his Republican colleagues in the House, including Representatives Mike Lawler, Republican of New York, Diana Harshbarger, Republican of Tennessee, Michael Rowley, Republican of Ohio, Dan Crenshaw, Republican of Texas, and Anna Paulina Luna. Claudia Tenney, R-Fla., Neil Dunn, R-Fla., Barry Moore, R-Ala., Randy Weber, R-Texas, and new House Science Committee Chairman Brian Babin, Republican from Texas.

Meanwhile, the idea of buying Greenland has gained traction with Trump's Republican allies Supporters of the idea Noting its strategic location near Russia – one of the United States' biggest adversaries.
