Former Indian cricketer Yograj Singh has taken a sharp turn on his comments on legendary captain MS Dhoni. Yograj recently called Dhoni a 'passionate captain' who knows how to read the wicket and get the best out of the bowlers.

Yograj also described Dhoni as 'brave' and revealed an incident when he was not bothered by the feared bowler in the world. Yograj's recent comments come as a big shock as he had previously criticized Dhoni for ruining his son Yuvraj Singh's career.

Yograj Singh takes a shocking turn on MS Dhoni

While speaking on a YouTube show titled 'Unfiltered by Samdish', Yograj Singh was asked about MS Dhoni and his leadership. Yograj described Dhoni as a keen captain and claimed that he can read the wicket quickly.

“I find (MS) Dhoni a very motivated captain, he can tell people what to do. The best thing about Dhoni is that he can read the wicket and he can tell the bowlers where to bowl,” noted Yograj.

Describing him as a 'brave' man, Yograj cited an incident that showed the world how brave Dhoni is. He also feels that players with such a fearless attitude are much fewer in modern-day cricket.

“What I liked most about him was that he was a fearless man. If you remember in Australia, he was hit on the grill by Mitchell Johnson and he didn't move a bit, he stood there and the next ball he pulled him for a six. Aise log kaafi kam hot hai (There's Very few people like him).

During an interview with YouTube channel Zee Switch in 2024, Yograj Singh launched a scathing attack on MS Dhoni and blamed him for ending Yuvraj Singh's career. He even asked Donnie to look in the mirror and refused to forgive him.

“I will not forgive Mrs. Dhoni. He should look at his face in the mirror. He is a very great cricketer, but what he did against my son, everything will be revealed now; we cannot forgive him in life,” Yograj said.

He even went to the extent of requesting the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award, for his son Yuvraj Singh for winning the World Cup for India in 2011 despite suffering from cancer.

“I challenge everyone to have a son like Yuvraj. Even Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag have said in the past that there will never be another Yuvraj Singh. India should give him the Bharat Ratna for playing with cancer and winning the World Cup for his country,” he said.

MS Dhoni is set to play IPL 2025

MS Dhoni retired from international cricket in August 2020. However, he is still an active player in the Indian Premier League. The legendary wicket-keeper-batsman continued to play for Chennai Super Kings even after retirement and led the team to win the Indian Premier League title in 2021 and 2023.

Dhoni will next be seen in action during IPL 2025 after the franchise retained him under the Uncapped Player category. He was retained by CSK for INR 4 Crores. He denied reports that he was retiring and wants to enjoy the game as long as he plays.
