Canelo Alvarez met with Turki Al Sheikh today and said there is a “chance” of a fight between him and Terence Crawford. He says he's always looking to offer “the best deals.”
Turki hopes to hold a fight between Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 KO) and Crawford in 2025 because it is one of the biggest fights that could be made in North America this year. We still have to see if he can take this fight.
Canelo is looking for the “best offers”
Crawford (37 years old) has not yet said what he will do if he is unable to fight the fight with Canelo. We know that Terrence's age and his 154 years of fighting against younger, stronger and bigger fighters will ultimately lead to his loss. He almost lost his last fight, making his debut at 154 against WBA junior middleweight champion Israel Madrimov on August 3 last year.
“It's always an opportunity there. We'll see, but there's always an opportunity here to make the best deals, there's always the opportunity,” Canelo Alvarez said. Ring magazine When asked if a fight between him and Terence Crawford was possible next.
“I think it will be another good fight. Both fighters are good fighters. I think they both have a chance to win,” Canelo said of the Feb. 22 rematch between undisputed light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol in Riyadh.
Former division world champion Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) wants to challenge Canelo for his unified super middleweight titles this year. He believes he has the talent to overcome his size disadvantage. Crawford believes he has enough size and skills to defeat Canelo.
The Mexican star is showing signs of slowing down in his last two fights against Edgar Berlanga and Jaime Munguia. These are fighters that Canelo likely would have knocked out in 2021 and earlier, but he was forced to make the 12-round decision to beat them.
