Former Indian batting coach Sanjay Bangar He complimented me Sanju Samson For his outstanding performances in T20Is over the past year. After years of inconsistency and limited opportunities, Samson came back strongly, becoming a key player in India's T20 World Cup-winning squad and providing winning knocks in bilateral matches against Bangladesh and South Africa.

Speaking to Star Sports, Banjar highlighted how Samson's run of matches has finally allowed him to showcase his potential.

Samson gets his moment

Bangar stressed that consistent opportunities have been crucial to Samson's recent success.

“Glad to see the kind of success he is currently enjoying. He has been there for a long time. He has been given the right opportunities and a good series of opportunities because every batsman, if he plays three or four matches in a row, it frees him up a little bit,” said Bangar.

Samson, who often batted lower in the order early in his career, flourished after being promoted to open the innings. He smashed centuries against both Bangladesh and South Africa, making his case stronger for regular inclusion.

The six-hitting prowess draws comparisons to Yuvraj

Banjar also drew a parallel between Samson and the legendary all-rounder Yuvraj Singhespecially when it comes to the six-hit ability.

“With the system, you don't really have to worry about the position. The pitch is high and he is a six-hitter. He can hit a six easily. After Yuvraj Singh, if there is one batsman who can do it so easily on a consistent basis, it has to be Sanju Samson. “Bhanjar noted that Just seeing him shoot with all his might is a treat to watch.

Samson prepares to return to India

Samson is likely to be part of India's limited-overs squad for the upcoming series against England. This series will be India's first white-ball stint since October last year, and Samson is expected to play a crucial role.

With KL Rahul rested, Samson could also get a call-up in the ODI squad. His last ODI appearance came against South Africa in December 2023. With the Champions Trophy scheduled for February, Samson will be keen to make the most of his chances in the three-match ODI series.
