Liverpool Striker Darwin Nunez has liked a social media post linking him with a move to Italian club AC Milan. Nunez, who has struggled to secure regular playing time under new manager Arne Slott, has been linked with a potential move to the Italian giants during the January window.
The Uruguayan striker joined the Reds in 2022, following his record £85m move from Benfica. However, he has failed to live up to high expectations and is currently behind Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz in the slot pecking order.
AC Milan previously reported that the club had opened discussions with Liverpool over a half-season loan deal, which would include a commitment to buy in the summer for £37.4m. This speculation is sure to gain more attention after Nunez liked an Instagram story in which he appears wearing an AC Milan shirt.
Although Milan are still heavily linked with Darwin Nunez, a contradictory report from mail Simon Jones reports that Liverpool have not received any contact from the Italian club regarding a potential transfer.
Meanwhile, Arne Slott himself expressed his confidence in the striker's ability to influence matches.
“For me, he has an impact. If you just look at the goals, he hasn't scored the number of goals he wants to score, or we want him to score the number nine, but he has an impact in his work rate. He's part of a team that scores,” he said (via the BBC). A lot of goals and a lot of wins.”
Liverpool are in good form and are currently sitting at the top of the Premier League standings. They are six points ahead of second place Arsenalwho played one more game than the Reds.
The Liverpool legend shares his thoughts on Trent Alexander-Arnold's potential exit
While Nunez has been linked with a move, multiple reports suggest that Liverpool's vice-captain, Trent Alexander-Arnold, could head to Real Madrid next summer. The full-back's contract expires at the end of the current season, allowing him to begin negotiations with other clubs this month.

“The most important thing for LFC in 2025 is to win the Premier League. No one's contract or future should get in the way of that! I love Trent as a young man and a player, but his team would have asked Real Madrid to make a bid.” “I also knew Liverpool FC would say no to it, to try and cover themselves when he leaves for free, again, that's not something the club/fans need in a huge game coming up.”
The Reds are preparing for a tough run of fixtures this month, starting with a crucial match against Manchester United at Anfield on January 5. They will then travel to London to face Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup semi-final on January 8.
