Senate Democrats released a video Thursday outlining their priorities before President-elect Donald Trump takes office, but the video was criticized for being out of touch and “confused.”
Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J. He shared the video on his account X and commented, “Senate Democrats are here to fight for you.”
In the video, Senate Democrats spoke directly to the camera, promising to work with “anyone” who would make life better but would oppose President-elect Donald Trump and Republicans if they “did things that would hurt you.”
Several Democratic senators, who are from close states or are up for re-election, were noticeably absent from the video. Sens. Progressive Democrats are angry at Biden for gaslighting Trump during his final weeks in office
Conservatives and others on social media mocked the video for being so out of touch with reality, with one user saying Democrats were still wondering how they lost the last election and that this video would help them win over voters.
A correspondent for the British newspaper The Guardian seemed to reluctantly describe the video as “a kind of frustration.”

“They're fighting for you with the power of Kring,” quipped college professor and conservative commentator David B. DeVille. He added as an aside: “Senator Booker himself sounds like a bit of a naughty seventh grader who's been told not to mess up his class video.”
“Please go away. You are the worst,” Babylon Bee managing editor Joel Perry wrote. In a Separate function“Look at those old stock traders with lizard faces,” he added.
“There is a lot of respect for voters,” wrote Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah.
“Now they will fight for the workers and their families!?!” asked comedian Jimmy Durie. “So, you're all done crushing railroad union strikes and flooding the country with millions of people desperate to suppress wages? And all it took was Americans electing Trump and a Republican Congress? Who knew?!?”

Although the video received some support, one progressive suggested Democratic senators might like it more.
“Give the digital communications person who came up with this idea a raise!!! This is great! More of this, please!!” exclaimed NextGen America press secretary Joanna Esquivel. “More of this, please!!”
