Michael Clarke asks the International Criminal Court to fine Mohamed Siraj

Speaking on Sky Sports Radio, former Australia captain Michael Clarke launched a new attack on Mohamed Siraj, and surprisingly, this is not due to the incident involving Travis Head.

Clarke was surprised to see that Siraj has not yet been fined by the ICC for his famous appeals in which he makes appeals without even asking the umpires.

“(Mohammed) Siraj should be fined for making over-weight appeals and not asking the umpires. The ball hits the ball, and he runs to the slips as if the batsmen are out. I'm surprised the ICC didn't fine him,” Clarke said.

Mark Waugh supports Michael Clarke's proposal to fine Mohamed Siraj

Clarke's former Australia teammate Mark Waugh came out in support of him and claimed Siraj should be fined. He even asked the Indian team management to intervene between them.

“Michael Clarke is right and I mentioned it in the Fox Cricket coverage. Even if Siraj doesn't get fined for his appeal, the management should make him stick to the rules because it's a good way to get offside with the umpires which is not good for his team,” Waugh posted in X (formerly Twitter).

During the second Test between Australia and India in Adelaide recently, Mohammed Siraj was seen making such appeals on various occasions. On one occasion, he immediately celebrated when the ball hit Marnus Labuschagne's pads.

Siraj was very convinced but the referee did not give up. India captain Rohit Sharma consulted with his teammates but did not go for the review. Later, it was shown that Labuschagne had gained an inside edge on his pads.

A controversial test for Mohamed Siraj

It was a controversial test match for Mohamed Siraj in which he was involved in a serious altercation with Travis Head. After picking up the big wicket for Head, Siraj bid him farewell as the two players exchanged a few words between them.

After the incident, Head claimed he had joked, “Nice throw” to Siraj but was shown the way to the sheds, which led to his aggressive reaction. But Siraj accused Head of lying to journalists.

Meanwhile, both players were fined after the incident. Siraj was fined 20% of the match fee while Head was reprimanded. A demerit point was added to their disciplinary records as well. This was also the first offense in the last 24 months for these two players.
