Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur will be out for two weeks after suffering concussion during the first leg of their UEFA Cup semi-final against Liverpool.

Bentancur fell awkwardly when trying to head home a corner kick, and the match was postponed while he received treatment on the pitch.

He was taken off the field on a stretcher and was monitored in hospital but coach Ange Postecoglou said he would be able to return after a spell on the bench.

“It looks like concussion but nothing more than that,” Postecoglou said ahead of his side’s FA Cup third-round clash with non-league side Tamworth: “He was in hospital, obviously, and they did all the tests in terms of the scan, making sure everything was okay.” “It's fine.”

“And it's all good. He's back home. He's fine. He feels great.”

“Obviously we will follow the protocols now. I think it takes a few weeks as you have to make sure everything is OK.

Bentancur will have to miss next week's Premier League trip to rivals Arsenal and the clash against Everton, but could return for the Europa League clash against Hoffenheim on January 23.

Postecoglou added: “It was painful, but I thought the players handled it well, our medical team handled it well, and as I say, thank God, everything is good.”

Tottenham have not won the FA Cup since 1991.
