Ruben Amorim insists he will “improve the team” despite Manchester United suffering back-to-back defeats in the Premier League following a 3-2 loss to Nottingham Forest.

The defeat was the second in a row for the new United manager, and his first at Old Trafford, after early goals in both halves helped give a lively Forest side victory.

Nikola Milinkovic scored in the first 90 seconds of the match, but Rasmus Hoglund equalized the score 15 minutes later.

Morgan Gibbs-White scored less than two minutes into the second half before the in-form Chris Wood became Forest's all-time top scorer in the Premier League when he scored the third goal.

Bruno Fernandes pulled a goal back, but despite a flurry of late chances for the hosts, the visitors held on for their first win at a United stadium in 30 years.

Before the match, Amorim predicted the storm would come, and on a day when matches up and down the football pyramid were affected by Storm Darragh, the United manager's predictions came true.

“It's not a surprise because we came in the middle of a lot of games,” Amorim told Sky Sports of the result.

“We knew that already. If you have a little bit of football experience, you will understand these moments.

The result comes just three days after United lost 2-0 to rivals Arsenal and just hours after the club's minority owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, He described the club as “average” in an interview Published in fanzine United We Stand.

While Amorim understands the fans' frustration after the loss, he is confident he can turn things around at Old Trafford.

“It's really disappointing for the fans,” Amorim added.

“It's really hard to see this kind of game after so many times with disappointment.

“But we are here to do the job and we will continue in the same way and do the same things. We will work to improve the team.”

Manchester United will host Viktoria Plzeň in the Europa League on Thursday before the Manchester derby on Sunday.
