President-elect Donald Trump Not only does he want to make America great again, he seems to seek to make America greater.

Trump has been vocal in recent days over his calls to seize Greenland and regain control of the Panama Canal Make Canada The 51st state in the country.

Once again, on Tuesday night, the president-elect attacked America's neighbor to the north, posting on social media two doctored maps showing Canada as part of the United States.

“Canada and the United States. This will be a real thing,” Trump said hours ago in a press conference at the Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida. “They should be a country.”

Would Canada become a “giant blue country” if it joined the United States?

A day earlier, the president-elect said in a social media post that “many people in Canada would love to be the 51st state.”

While he said he would only use “economic force” to convince Canadians to join the United States, he did not rule out using military force when it came to Greenland, the huge ice-covered island in the North Atlantic and Arctic Ocean that for centuries has been a safe place. Controlled by Denmark, and the Panama Canal, which the United States handed over control to Panama more than 40 years ago.

“They have to give it up because we need it for national security. This is for the free world. I'm talking about protecting the free world,” Trump said of his long-term ambitions. Get Greenland.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen responded, saying Greenland had made it clear it was not for sale.

“There is a lot of support among the people of Greenland that Greenland is not for sale and will not be for sale in the future,” Frederiksen said.

Pierre Poilievre, leader of the Canadian Conservative Party, also responded to Trump's musings.

“Canada will never be the 51st country. We are a great and independent country,” he asserted in a social media post.

In addition, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau He also responded to Trump's threat to use “economic might” to absorb Canada, saying there isn't “a big chance in hell” that Canada will become the 51st state.

Trump's recent mockery of Canada's longtime prime minister, whom he has repeatedly referred to as a “governor,” along with his threat to impose massive tariffs on Canada, were likely a contributing factor in Trudeau's resignation announcement earlier this week.

This was not limited to Canada, Greenland, and the Panama Canal.

During his press conference, Trump even pledged to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to “America’s Gulf.”

While Trump's efforts at American expansionism — which have a prominent place in the nation's history — may never come to fruition, they are immediately forcing world leaders to respond and strike back, likely foreshadowing the raw impact his second administration will have on the world.

“I think what it does is set the tone for the next four years, which is that America is the dominant superpower in the world. We are the protector of freedom and democracy around the world. We are the only country that can push the envelope,” Ryan Williams, a veteran Republican strategist and communications communicator, told Fox. News: “We are back against China, and it is time to start acting as if we are that country.”

“Donald Trump has adapted Teddy Roosevelt’s slogan for the 21st century and ‘talks loud and carries a big stick,’” asserted Matt Moyers, a veteran GOP national public affairs strategist and former State Department diplomat during Trump’s first administration. “And he knows it.” “. In order to change the paradigm and repel Chinese and Russian economic expansion in our hemisphere, he needs to speak out boldly about exerting American influence in the region.

“You've already seen how his mastery of the bully pulpit has precipitated a political earthquake in Canada. This ensures America remains dominant in our own backyard, puts America's interests first, and expands our trade and security cooperation,” Moyers said.

Clearly, not everyone agrees with Trump's muscular approach.

Minister of State Antony Blinken, President Biden's top US diplomat, appeared to be targeting the president-elect.

“I think one of the core propositions that we've made in our work over the last four years is that we are stronger, we're more effective, and we get better results when we work closely with our allies. We don't say or do things that might alienate them,” Blinken said Wednesday at a news conference.

“The idea that has been expressed about Greenland is clearly not a good idea. But perhaps more importantly, it's clear that it's not going to happen. So maybe we shouldn't waste a lot of time talking about it,” Blinken predicted.
