Former Australian cricketer Michael Clarke He shared his thoughts on who he believes holds the title of best fast bowler in all three formats of the game. In a recent chat, Clarke gave his opinion on what makes a fast bowler stand out, especially when playing across formats like Test cricket, One Day Internationals (ODIs) and T20Is.
Michael Clarke picks the best fast bowlers across formats
Clarke, after contemplating a series of fast bowling performances, called it India Jasprit Bumrah As the best fast bowler he has seen in all formats. Clarke praised Bumrah's ability to consistently perform well in all conditions, which, in his opinion, sets him apart from other fast bowlers.
The former Australia captain went on to explain that Bumrah's remarkable versatility in different conditions and formats, coupled with his match-winning abilities, made him stand out. Clarke emphasized that Bumrah's prowess across formats – be it New Yorkers' lethal innings in T20s or his ability to bowl long overs in Tests – is what makes him a natural freak.
“The thing I thought about Bumrah, after the series ended and I was sitting and thinking about his performance, I actually think he is the best fast bowler ever in all three formats.” Clarke told ESPN about the wicket.

Clark reflects on the greats of past times
Clarke acknowledged the huge influence of legendary fast bowlers from bygone eras, pointing to the likes of Curtly Ambrose and Glenn McGrath. However, he pointed out that these legends did not get the opportunity to play T20 cricket, which is a vital part of the game today. Although their contributions have been immense, Clarke believes Bumrah's ability to excel in all three formats makes him stand out.
“I know a lot of great fast bowlers, Curtley Ambrose, Glenn McGrath, they couldn't play T20 cricket, so I'm not talking about those guys, but in terms of anyone who has played all three formats, I think he might be the best of all time. He's the best ever. In fact, he's very good in all conditions, which is what makes him great; any conditions, any form, this guy is a freak. Clark added.
