Aaron Rodgers He admitted Sunday's game might be his last time playing in the NFL.
Rodgers was questioned by reporters whether New York JetsThe season finale against the Miami Dolphins could be the last of his career on Wednesday.
“Yes, of course,” Rodgers replied.
Rodgers has not made any final decision yet, but says he will make one before free agency begins in March. Rodgers is under contract with the Jets for next season and is set to make $23 million. However, the Jets are also set to hire a new head coach and general manager this offseason after firing Robert Saleh and Joe Douglas, the regime that brought Rodgers to New York, midway through the season.

“I'm more resigned to the reality of the situation,” Rodgers admitted regarding the risks of Sunday's game. “I believe there will be a change here, and if I'm not a part of the change, I just want to make sure everyone knows that I have nothing but gratitude for the time I spent here.”
He added that he expects the new coach and general manager who will take charge to make a quick decision regarding his future with the team.
“I don't think we'll get there,” Rodgers said. “There's going to be a regime change here, at least with GM. Whatever they end up doing, I'm sure I'll either take a call or have a conversation and go from there.”
Rodgers missed almost all of his first season with the Jets last year after suffering a season-ending Achilles injury in the opening drive of the Jets' Week 1 game against the Buffalo Bills. This year, despite Rodgers' fully healthy season, the Jets went 4-12.
Jaguars fans send a message to owner Shad Khan amid a dismal 2024 season
“I'm disappointed about the performance personally and as a team, but I'm really grateful for this opportunity. If I felt good coming back and they wanted to do another run at this, that would be great, but I'm not.” “Naive to the situation we're in.”
The season has been physically taxing on Rodgers as well. After being sacked four times against the Buffalo Bills last Sunday, he became the most sacked quarterback in NFL history. He has been sacked 568 times in 247 career games, three more than Tom Brady, who has been sacked 565 times in his career. Russell Wilson is there too with 556 sacks.
The Jets quarterback has been sacked 37 times this season. He has twice led the league in sacks in his career – both while with the Green Bay Packers.

However, Rodgers considers his final two years in New York the best of his life.
“I mean gratitude, honestly. They've been the best two years of my life,” Rodgers said. “That's an adjustment in perspective that happened at some point during the rehab process last year. Just the excitement, falling in love with the game again, getting to know these guys here, getting to know the great men and women who work here. It's been a lot of fun on the field, and it's been a lot of fun.” Below expectations, there is no doubt that this game is about relationships.
