Gwyneth Paltrow The year 2024 leaves the past and enters the new year.
Taking to it Instagram On Sunday, December 29, the 52-year-old actress compiled a list of everything she “let go” over the course of the year.
“This year, I've given up… a phase of life where everyone is always under one roof, our house, some dear colleagues, a dog, Los Angeles,” Paltrow wrote before adding more entries, which included giving away “some.” People who weren't right for me, the idea that I could correct misconceptions (and) having self-limiting beliefs.
While Paltrow admitted she's “still working on” dismantling such limiting beliefs, she also has a long list of goals for next year.
“In 2025, I would like to index freedom, expansion, feeling good, and crushing it at work,” the Goop founder noted. “(Also) continuing to be able to have difficult conversations, constantly reevaluate everything, look at things in a new way (and) surprise myself.”
In her caption on the post, Paltrow noted that all of the above topics taught her “very powerful lessons.”
“I had a bunch of send-offs this year; “I've had some discoveries that lead to the endings of things,” she said, citing her discoveries as a result of reading recent issues. “Numerology put all of this into context for me, but this year was about learning to understand that it was a year of endings and that sometimes those endings were really painful and came with big changes and recalibrations.”
“I've learned to loosen my grip on things and learn deeply how to let go,” Paltrow concluded. “And also to understand that everything always happens for your best good, even if it's very uncomfortable.”
Throughout 2024, Paltrow has faced changing dynamics within her Goop business and her family. It was also the year she became an empty nester when her son, Moses, 18, went to Brown University to begin his college career. (Paltrow shares Muse and big sister Apple with her ex-husband Chris Martin. Apple, 20, teaches at Vanderbilt University.)
