The 2024/25 season is still not yet halfway through, but there will be a host of clubs across Europe already dreaming of spending big this winter.

There has been a flurry of activity around the world over the summer transformation Window, with billions spent in the five major leagues in Europe alone. Premier League clubs have spent £2.1bn alone, but it is unlikely that much money will be spent at the start of the new year.

January transfer windows tend to be quieter, especially for bigger European clubs, but they do offer struggling sides the ability to bolster their squads or cover for injuries. There will be a large number of teams already desperate to open the winter market.

Here are all the details regarding the January 2025 transfer window.

There is no specific date on which the January transfer window opens worldwide. Different patrols open and close their shutters at different times.

The Premier League winter window opens on Wednesday 1 January. The market will also open on New Year's Day in the French League and the German League, as well as in the Saudi Professional League.

However, in La Liga and Serie A, clubs will have to wait until Thursday, January 2 to begin their operations.

The January transfer window remains open for about a month and closes in early February in most parts of Europe.

The Premier League's winter window will close on Monday 3 February at 23:00 GMT, with top-flight teams in Italy, France, Germany and Spain closing their windows on the same date – although with a different timing.

The Saudi Professional League window closes earlier than the major leagues in Europe – to the relief of many European clubs – and will close on Thursday, January 30.

It promises to be an interesting winter window Liverpool Fans, who fear for the future with the contracts of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold expiring next summer. The three will be free to agree contracts with clubs outside England next January if they choose to leave Anfield at the end of the current season.

Elsewhere in Premier LeagueThere is likely to be a big movement. The likes of Eberechi Eze, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Anthony Gordon and Brian Mbeumo could attract interest from top clubs in the division, while Manchester City could look to replace Rodri given his absence for the rest of the season.

Victor Osimhen is another one to watch. The Napoli striker made a surprise move to Galatasaray on loan at the end of the summer, but he may move permanently in the winter. Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain will be among the suitors.
