Liberal comedian Bill Maher criticized his team for cutting off family members over the holidays because of politics.
On Sunday's episode of “Random clubpodcast, Maher and fellow comedian Jay Leno bonded over the late entertainment icon Sammy Davis Jr. and how he embraced President Richard Nixon.
Leno noted that he was viewed as a “traitor” among Hollywood liberals because of his embrace of the Republican president.
“It's very funny that you mention that because, like today, we live in this time where it's not allowed to have friends on the other side or cross lines politically,” Maher told Leno. “And I forgot that there was an example of this, when a man who crossed the line politically said: ‘Oh, the worst thing you could ever do – be friends with a Republican. Yes! Call 911!”
Maher continued: “This is what I hate about the left.” “And they're not going to move me over to Trump's side, which they think they're going to do sometimes, but just the idea of, you know, 'cut your family off for Thanksgiving if they vote for the wrong guy.'
