Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch has highlighted the tactical approach that led the Reds to their emphatic win over Tottenham Hotspur yesterday.

The Reds were on fire as they scored 6 goals past Ange Postecoglou's side to extend their lead at the top of the table.

They took the lead in the 23rd minute when Luis Diaz headed Trent Alexander-Arnold's cross past the goalkeeper. The score was doubled 13 minutes later when Alexis McAllister scored from close range, exposing the lapses in Tottenham's defence.

Spurs managed a brief comeback when James Maddison curled in a stunning effort just before half-time. However, Liverpool restored their two-goal advantage minutes later when Dominik Szoboszlai finished off a well-executed counter-attack to make it 3-1 at half-time.

Mohamed Salah added two quick goals in the second half to put Liverpool away with a score of 5-1. Despite late goals from Dejan Kulusevski and Dominik Solanke, the Reds sealed the win with Diaz's second goal in the dying minutes.

Ryan Gravenberch reveals Liverpool targeted the right side of Tottenham's defence

Most of the goals scored by Liverpool came from the right flank and Gravenberch later revealed that this was part of their plan to target the right side of Tottenham's defence, with Radu Dragosin considered to be the weak link.

Granfenbrech said LFCTV:

“Yes, we had a really good game plan, we wanted to keep them on the right side and put pressure on the right centre-back. Sometimes it went well and other times they did it well but in the end, I think we did really well.

Radu Dragosin endured a torrid evening, failing to spot Luis Diaz's opener and losing an aerial duel to Szoboszlai to score Liverpool's third goal.

The Romanian has not had the best start to his Tottenham career. He joined them in January, choosing Tottenham over Bayern Munich. However, the young centre-back initially struggled for playing time due to the presence of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven ahead of him.

With both key defenders missing, the 21-year-old has been handed a long spell in the team, but his displays have highlighted his inexperience at the highest level.

Ange Postecoglou now faces a crucial decision on how to address his side's defensive weaknesses. The absence of Romero and Van de Ven has left Spurs exposed, with the makeshift duo struggling to cope with top-flight opponents such as Liverpool.
