Tottenham suffered a humiliating defeat to Premier League leaders Liverpool at the weekend.

Ange Postecoglou's side lost again, this time to Arne Slott's Liverpool side who were inspired by Mohamed Salah to a memorable win.

Liverpool won the match 6-3, and Salah scored two goals and made two assists, giving one of his best performances this season.

The Egyptian striker has now scored 15 goals in the league, in addition to providing 11 assists in just 16 matches this season.

It was another game that showed that Spurs' defense needs a lot of work if they are to achieve their goals this season.

The last match against Chelsea was another example of how the North London side suffers when under pressure from the opposition.

Jamie Carragher particularly criticized Tottenham defender Jed Spence for his performance against Liverpool.

Spence chased down Trent Alexander-Arnold in the Liverpool half, which left the Tottenham defense open and allowed Salah to find Dominik Szoboszlai, who easily scored against Tottenham.

The critic stated that the player should have realized that it was not the best option to press so high at that moment.

Tottenham are eyeing a bargain for the playmaker

Carragher said on Sky Sports, according to what was reported TBR Football:

“Look at your left-back pressing, don't do that! You stay at left-back, Archie Gray is dragged across the area, Dragocin is in no man's land and before you know it, it's three versus two. That doesn't mean you shouldn't attack, says the manager. “It means using your mind.”

“Don't forget this is from the manager's side. For me, this is the decision from the left-back, you can say he has just made the decision, but if your manager has been there for 18 months, those messages have to be passed every day.

“He never got there, he went about 40 yards, and left an 18-year-old behind. You have to look after a kid – he's not even a centre-back and he's 18. If you do that one minute before half-time it's going to happen.” Absolutely unbelievable.

Ange Postecoglou needs to change his tactics at Tottenham

The manager likes to play attacking football, and it was great to see Tottenham playing like that, but players have to choose their moments.

You can't play extreme attacking football all the time. It also depends on the players you have available at that moment.

The north London club are currently without Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven which has left their defense completely open lately.

In the absence of these two players, the defense must be more protected and the offensive side of the game must be compromised to some extent in order to achieve results.

Because of this style of play, Tottenham have struggled to get consistent results all season, and it is solely up to the manager.
