Everton held in-form Chelsea to a 0-0 draw at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon.

On a day when the weather was so bad that Sean Dyche was wearing a jacket, both sides struggled to find any fluency. Fighting against the elements as well as each other, Chelsea The best chances were created in the first 45 minutes.

Nicholas Jackson found himself taking – and missing – two golden slots for the Blues. He was initially thwarted by the usually enthusiastic sprawling figure Jordan PickfordJackson was then denied the woodwork, heading to the post from close range from a corner kick.

Everton The ball was limited to just a few touches inside Chelsea's penalty area in the first half, but Jack Harrison found space on the edge of the six-yard box five minutes into the second half. Sanchez, like his counterpart, rushed off his line to stifle the drive forward.

Chelsea were strangely passive after the restart, roaming the blue half of Stanley Park without a goal. The goalless draw left Chelsea one point behind league leaders Liverpool, who have two games in hand over the Blues. In comparison, Everton opened up a four-point cushion above the relegation zone.
